Tips for coloring scarecrows
- Use warm fall colors — mustard yellow, rust orange, plaid red and denim blue — for a classic harvest look.
- Draw short pencil strokes on the straw hair and hands instead of coloring them flat, so the straw looks real.
- Give each patch on the scarecrow's clothes a different pattern: stripes, dots or gingham checks.
- Cut out finished scarecrows and glue them on a paper bag for an easy fall puppet.
